We joined the cooking class and it turned out to be a wonderful and truly enriching experience. We were welcomed into the home of a warm and kind-hearted traditional Albanian family. The class was led by the hostess together with her mother, both of whom were incredibly friendly and attentive. Beyond the cooking itself, we learned a lot about the history of Berat and Albania, as well as many Albanian traditions. At the end, we had the pleasure of enjoying the delicious dishes we had prepared together. Sharing the meal felt just like sitting at the table with family. An experience we can wholeheartedly recommend!
Our experience with Qato Tours in Berat was nothing short of amazing! We decided to visit this amazing city this Easter holiday, came from London with friends. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and tailored to give us the best possible insight into the rich history and beauty of the region. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Berat, which made the entire tour engaging and informative. We explored stunning historical sites, enjoyed breathtaking views, and even got insider tips on local food and culture. You can really feel the care and effort they put into creating a memorable experience. Highly recommended – five stars without a doubt!
We took the cooking class and the castle & city tour with our 2 children. Julia and her loving family were excellent hosts and very flexible for a last minute class. We were very welcome, learned about the food and its preparation. The kids could play with their children and too cute little cats. The food was delicious. The castle & city tour was also very nice. We got a lot of information from Julia and she was again very flexible to meet our wishes. We definitely would recommend Qato tours.
★★★★★ Come for the history, stay for the family — Berat doesn’t get warmer than this. Julia isn’t just a tour guide—she’s a natural storyteller who makes Berat’s history feel alive. From hidden corners of the old town to stunning castle views, every stop came with warmth, humor, and genuine insight. What made it unforgettable was the personal touch—her husband drove us to a beautiful vineyard, and her brother took us up to the castle. It felt like being welcomed into a family, not just a tour. If you want an experience that’s rich in history, heart, and hospitality, Julia’s family-run Qato Tours is the way to go.
