The tour begins with a comfortable drive from Durrës to the capital city, Tirana.
Our first stop is Skanderbeg Square, the heart of Tirana. Here, you’ll be introduced to Albania’s national hero and see key buildings such as the National Historical Museum and the Opera House.
We then continue to visit the Et’hem Bey Mosque, one of the oldest and most beautifully decorated mosques in Albania, representing a significant part of the city’s cultural heritage.
Next, we explore the Tirana Castle area – a charming blend of history and modern life, with stone walls, cafés, and artisan shops. A great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
From there, we head to the Pyramid of Tirana, a once-controversial communist-era structure now transformed into a creative and youth-oriented space. A short walk around offers insight into the city’s past and its urban transformation.
After exploring the city, we drive toward Dajti Express Cable Car Station, where you’ll enjoy a scenic 15-minute ride up the mountain. From the top, you’ll have free time to explore the natural surroundings, take in panoramic views of Tirana, and relax at the mountain cafés or recreational areas.
At the end of the experience, we return to Durrës.
My husband and I used Choose Balkans for private transportation from Tirana to Sarande. The process was smooth, easy, and the communication with the company was great. He answers every question in an engaging way and shares his knowledge about life, culture, nature, and the economy of Albania. He drives very well and safely. Our journey to Theth included stops at beautiful viewpoints for photos. We enjoyed a pleasant time in the national park and went hiking along the Black Creek to the Blue Eye in Theth. The views were breathtaking – a must-see! On the way back, we visited Shkodër, a beautiful city with a view of Lake Shkodër. It was an amazing day spent in great company. We highly recommend trips with Billy and the Choose Balkans team!

Hi my husband and I stayed at Retreat apartments through Choose Balkans for one night in Tirane. Despite a bit of difficulty finding the apartment we were helped by some locals and then greeted by the lovely Albana. We were upgraded to a bigger apartment which was great. Albana was very helpful and explained everything we needed as well as where to have lunch and dinner. The apartment was in a great central area. We were also offered the option of a later checkout than 11am if we needed. Thanks once again Albana.
