Day 1 – Explore Theth National Park
Begin your adventure early from Durrës, Tirana, or Shkodër, and journey deep into the stunning Albanian Alps. Arrive in the charming village of Theth, where you’ll hike through breathtaking landscapes to visit the famous waterfall and the historic Lock-in Tower. After an invigorating day, relax in a cozy traditional guesthouse with dinner and breakfast included.
Day 2 – Shala River & Shkodër City Stop
Start your morning with a delicious breakfast before departing for Komani Lake. Board a scenic boat and cruise through narrow canyons towards the crystal-clear Shala River, known as "the Thai Maldives of Albania." Swim, unwind, and take in the spectacular views. On the way back, enjoy a 1–2 hour stop in Shkodër to explore the Old Bazaar or savor a coffee before returning to Tirana or Durrës.

Day 1 – Into the Albanian Alps: Theth, Waterfall & Tower of Isolation
We start our journey early in the morning from Durrës and Tirana, with a short pickup stop in Shkodër if needed. We head north toward the breathtaking Albanian Alps, on a scenic mountain road with sweeping views.
Upon arrival in the remote village of Theth, you’ll begin an unforgettable guided hike through some of Albania’s most untouched natural beauty.
Our guided exploration includes:
- A visit to the Grunas Waterfall, a stunning 30-meter drop surrounded by lush forest
- A stop at the historic Lock-in Tower, a powerful symbol of the Kanun and highland traditions
- Free time to explore or enjoy nature on your own
After the hike, enjoy some free time to relax before checking into a traditional guesthouse, where you'll be treated to:
- A homemade dinner featuring local Albanian mountain cuisine
- A comfortable overnight stay in a cozy room
- Breakfast included the next morning
Day 2 – Komani Lake & the Shala River Experience + Shkodër Stop
After breakfast, we depart from Theth and head toward Komani Lake, one of the most beautiful water routes in all of Europe.
You’ll board a boat and sail through narrow alpine canyons surrounded by towering cliffs, leading you to the magical Shala River – often referred to as "the Thai Maldives of Albania."
At the Shala River, you’ll enjoy:
- Swimming in crystal-clear turquoise water
- Sunbathing on white river sand
- Optional lunch at a rustic riverside restaurant (not included)
- Hammocks, wooden sunbeds, and absolute peace
In the afternoon, we begin our journey back with a relaxing 1–2 hour stop in Shkodër.
In Shkodër, you can:
- Explore the charming Old Bazaar
- Enjoy a coffee or light snack
- Walk through historic streets and take photos
By evening, we return to Tirana or Durrës, marking the end of this unforgettable 2-day journey.
We had a very kind and fun driver/guide. He came to pick us up at the hotel and we had a great time getting to Blue Eye and the Castle. This was a pleasant experience so I totally recommend. And we got a few recommendations of spots in Saranda and Ksamil so overall happy.
We went on the blue eye tour over the weekend and had a fantastic experience. Our guide, Gers, was awesome. Very knowledgeable, and a great person to chat with throughout. He spoke good English, played great music during the drive, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. This was one of the few tours we could find departing from Ksamil at a reasonable price, and we're so glad we chose it. The journey to the Blue Eye took about 50 minutes, and we booked the early morning slot (8 AM), which ended up being private tour. I'd definitely recommend going early to beat the crowds as it was starting to get quite busy just as we were leaving. The Blue Eye itself was a lovely spot with stunning views and crystal-clear water. There are two main viewpoints where you can take great photos, as well as a longer hiking trail through nature- though it doesn't lead to a viewpoint, it's still a good hike you have the time. Overall, a great tour and a memorable experience, highly recommended!
